Sheep Sales Reports

New Season Lambs – 853

Auctioneer: John Rossiter 07557 392903

Top price per kilo – 346p – Dylan Isaac
Top price per head – £174.00 – Dylan Isaac

A smaller entry of lambs this week selling to a very strong trade with all good meated sorts over £3 kg and up to 346p. All markets around the country are showing signs of less meated sheep on offer which has helped the trade for the good meat, but the prices for the leaner and smaller types have come under a bit of pressure and are more in line with the store figures. The heavier the better today with a super run of lambs from Dylan and Holly Isaac topping at £174 head. With the changes in the current BTV zone, there will be no issues with the sale of finished sheep and if anything, it will only solidify the trade as numbers will be harder to find. I may be repeating myself here but, again, an opportunity to feed some lambs and not sell as stores….?

Cattle Sales Reports

Finished Cattle –  53 Sold

Auctioneer: John Rossiter 07557 392903

The “less” experienced auctioneer pulled it off once again. Not a bad yard of cattle for the time of year with really something for everyone to choose from. Some of the best end which broke through £3 kg and, also, some of the Black & Whites at the other end of the spectrum trading around the £2 kg price mark. Top vendor on the day was A J Thompson & Sons with 4 beasts over £3 kg to a top of 318p for the very best. The general feel of the trade would be that they were well up on the day with a real demand for the better finished examples. The same comments were echoed within the cattle as within the finished sheep that Monday`s markets were quite disappointing in terms of numbers of good cattle, and this has certainly boosted our prices.
