Report on trade: Just under 4,000 lambs were penned for the second sale of the season and to my eye it was one of the most level entries of lambs we have seen on a Friday for some time All lambs were, what we would say, “running” types which didn’t include the big lambs for short term finishing, nor did it contain many smaller lambs for longer term finishing. All in all, it was a good quality entry that sold on an improved trade with averages up by approximately £8 head. Top end lambs were over £100 and to a top of £116.50 from Mr Chris Woodhead which was closely followed by G J Duncanson Ltd and H G Tompsett Ltd at £116. Most lambs, generally, were £90-100 which looks about in line with where the finished trade is currently sitting but this may lift as the weeks go by and some finishers get harvest finished and turn attentions to sheep for the winter.
